I AM ASIA

I am curious by nature, drawn to open spaces and honest conversations.

Give me the sea, a coconut, a book and a few uninterrupted hours and I’m perfectly happy.

My life moves between the city, the road, other islands across the Caribbean, and a farm full of bees, goats, chickens and unfinished projects. I’m still figuring out where home is.

I’m quite happy in my own company, but I love being around people. I need freedom, space to think, and enough time alone to reset. I suppose I’ve always been a little difficult to put neatly into one box.

My Journey

BECAME A MOM: the beginning of everything

At barely twenty-one, I became a mother for the first time. I was still figuring out who I was and, suddenly, I was responsible for this little person while still becoming a person myself.

It’s strange, but I can barely remember my life before Nicolás. In so many ways, this is where my own story begins. We grew up together — through the learning, the mistakes, and all the figuring-it-out-as-you-go — and I discovered a kind of love that rearranged everything that had come before it.

AND THEN DAVID CAME ALONG

Two years later, my second son arrived, and for many years raising my boys became the center around which almost everything else in my life revolved.

Those years were messy, funny, absolutely exhausting, and gone much faster than they seemed to be going at the time. Looking back now, I can see how much of who I became was being formed right alongside them.

I picked up a camera and something clicked

Photography gave me a language I hadn’t known I was looking for — a way to pay attention, to observe people, and to tell stories without needing to explain everything in words.

I was entirely self-taught, learning through curiosity, mistakes, and thousands upon thousands of photographs. What began as an interest slowly became a profession, and eventually the work around which I built my life.

STILL LOVING IT, STILL BECOMING

Fourteen years later, photography continues to be one of the great constants in my life. But I find myself in a new chapter — as an artist and as an individual.

My children are adults now. The business I built over more than a decade has grown and changed with me. I’ve always been more interested in what feels true than in what looks perfect, and I’ve carried that instinct into my work from the beginning.

But as I’ve grown, I’ve become less interested in proving anything and more interested in making work that feels honest, meaningful, and deeply connected to the people in front of me.

Today I photograph destination weddings and families across the Dominican Republic — from Casa de Campo and Punta Cana to Samaná and Cabrera — and throughout the Caribbean.

I’m still learning. Still questioning. Still paying attention. And perhaps that’s what keeps me in love with photography after all these years: it continues to ask me to notice the world, and the people in it, with fresh eyes.
