Introducing our honeymoon photography session. The perfect way to reconnect after the hecticness of your wedding day and the best time to document your newly-wedded glow while you’re looking your best in holiday mode.
Wedding photography has evolved dramatically over the past years and the honeymoon photography session the newest and most exciting options for creating new memories has arrived to stay . A Honeymoon photoshoot it’s more than just a few keepsake photos, is an opportunity to reconnect and celebrate after the hectic and stressful times surrounding a wedding.
Over the past years, we have photographed loved-up couples from over the world all around our beautiful island and in some international romantic locations – New York, San Miguel de Allende in Mexico, Puerto Rico, Trinidad & Tobago, etc.. – so we know the perfect ingredients for a fabulous escape shoot.
Timing is key, particularly if you’d prefer to avoid tourist crowds. The solution? Get up with the sun! “Early morning is always preferred for photos as it’s generally a lot quieter and the light is clear and soft. On the flip side, the golden light at sunset is beautiful, too, so I always give both options to my clients.
Independently of the location, the essence of our honeymoon photography session is you and your lover! Less structured than an engagement photo session without photos of you gazing at your engagement rings or embracing awkwardly. It’s about creating a space to enjoy authentic intimacy.
It’s about photographing you and your partner at one of the most fun times in your relationship on adventure mode, exploring together and documenting the little moments and gestures that encircle your love and admiration for each other.
A photo session during your honeymoon in the Dominican Republic is the ideal time to have fun with some gorgeous photos and to make the most of the gorgeous locations you’ll be visiting! The possibilities are infinite.
“We have a lot of clients following our travels on Instagram and booking us in places we’ve scheduled to visit. This year we are heading to Costa Rica, Turks & Caicos, Bahamas, and the USA to photograph some destination weddings, and while there, we have already scheduled a few honeymoon photography sessions.
Some couples happen to be there at the same time as us, on holidays or on their honeymoon, while others are flying from the other side of the world to meet with us.
Some tips for a special honeymoon photo session:
a. Find a honeymoon or wedding photographer that you love.
b. Discuss location options with them depending on your budget, fly them to your destination or fly to their destination.
c. You may have the chance to book a hair & makeup artist (your photographer might be able to help you with this). We strongly recommend keeping your hair and makeup looking as natural and casual as possible, especially if you are being photographed in nature.
d. Think about styling elements such as clothes, unique accessories, and/or flowers. You might want big or small with these, don’t be afraid to think out the box, remember this is your love story; anything from hiring a florist to design a unique arch in the top of a mountain to simply wear a flower crown for a small touch of boho beauty.
e. Consider making this photoshoot around an activity that you guys are excited to enjoy during your trip – horse riding or wine tasting -. If you want to keep things simple, rest assured that a stroll along a dessert beach at sunset, a wander through the markets, or a late-afternoon coffee in a little cafe, is just as photo-worthy.
f. Enjoy every minute, pretend the honeymoon photographer isn’t there. Bask in your love!
Does strolling the beach at sunrise for a very special & intimate photo session strikes your fancy? Just that we did together with Gheisa & Dío on the area of a wild and isolated cliff, during their honeymoon trip to Playa Grande beach club, a luxury resort retreat located on the North Coast of the Dominican Republic, sitting on a one-mile-long expanse of wild, virgin beach on the Atlantic Ocean against a backdrop of lush low mountain forests.
